East Africa Medical Center led by its General Manager, Abisolem Bahta was honored to be a part of the Kansanga cleaning event in Kampala. The program was initiated by the Art Association of Eritrean Refugees in Uganda (AAERU) in partnership with Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA).
The event took place on Saturday 25th March, 2023 in Kansanga along Ggaba Road in Makindye Division starting from 9:00 AM till midday.
Speaking to the press, Mr. Bahta said it is one of the duties of East Africa Medical Center to interact and co-worker with the society to promote and ensure good health for all.
“We are interacting with the society and this is part of our duty as a medical facility as long as we are here we should interact, and this is one of the ways, especially when ensuring good sanitation for better health for all,” said Bahta.
Mr. Bahta further mentioned that East Africa Medical center believe in collaboration and partnerships, they are ready to welcome any invitations for inclusive and community engagement.
“At Eat Africa Medical Center, we strongly believe in collaboration and ready to welcome any partnerships meant for social transformation and community engagement for a common goal,” he added.

The association chairperson, Mr. Yemane Hagos also stated that following their culture back home in Eritrea, it was fundamental for the Eritrean community in Uganda to do something like this to set a trend amongst other refugees.
“We make health as a main factor to live. So, in Eritrea we have a culture of making this always,” Yemane stated.
Alongside KCCA workers and AAERU members, the event attracted more than 100 residents both Ugandan and Eritreans, who genuinely worked together on this day to clean up the area.
Some Ugandan officials highly appreciated the program as they expressed their excitement.
“We are very excited today for these Eritreans to come out today and put in consideration of what KCCA emphasis to promote good sanitation,” Stanley Nabbala – Chief Advisor, KCCA Weyonje Campaign.
