Bolstering Relationships for Better Healthcare Services in 2024 and Beyond

Bolstering relationships with corporations, government bodies, non-government organizations (NGOs), or individuals has been at the vanguard of the agenda since our establishment in January 2018.

As a community and people-oriented medical center, we were thrilled to have the opportunity to host Dr. Alex Ndyabakira, Division Medical Officer (DMO), Makindye division, Kampala.

Dr. Ndyabakira from KCCA, Makindye Division at East Africa Medical Center Offices on the purpose of building strong relationships.

Dr. Ndyabakira paid a visit to our main facility located on the 5th floor, South Point Mall, Kabalagala on February 7th, 2024, to supervise, guide, and foster collaboration between the Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) and East Africa Medical Center for better service delivery in Makindye Division or beyond.

The East Africa Medical Center team led by the Chairperson, Mr. Saere Asmelash, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mrs. Helen Habteselasie, the General Manager, Mr. Abiselom Bahta, and other staff members welcomed the DMO, and they all discussed matters of social and communal importance towards improving the quality of lives in the area.

To his surprise, Dr. Ndyabakira was mesmerized after understanding that East Africa Medical Center focuses on providing top-quality healthcare services to the refugees, whom he believes have not been solely focused on by any healthcare service providers. 

According to him, there has not been any medical center, especially in Makindye division and other parts of Kampala focusing on helping the refugees with healthcare services. 

Mr. Saere Asmelash, however, pleaded for a supportive hand from Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA), something he believes will bolster the initiative to serve the community better and reliably.

“As a medical center operating under your jurisdiction, we request support from KCCA. For example, you can help us extend the message about our free health campaigns and programs, such as blood donation, free immunization, free body checkups, and testing, etc.” – he requested

Fortunately, East Africa Medical Center was assured of full support from Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) to enable us to achieve its goal of ensuring good health for all, regardless of their social, gender, political, economic, cultural, and religious orientations.

“I am happy to tell you that KCCA is ready to work with you because we need healthy and lively people, and if you can help us achieve that; why not work with you? We are always open to working with you. So, do not hesitate to contact us anytime you need us,” – Dr. Ndyabakira.

He also thanked and applauded the East Africa Medical Center management team for their ambitious efforts to attain international accreditation certificates. For example, the International Medical Laboratory Accreditation Certificate by theGCC Accreditation Center and more.

GCC Accreditation Center is one of the most visible successes of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, as it is the first and fastest multi-economy accreditation agency in the Middle East, Asia, and the Pacific medical agencies that want to gain international recognition.

“I am also impressed by how you have put in extra effort as the management to achieve these international recognitions. They serve as proof that we are doing a great job as KCCA and that we are credible,” – he added.

Mrs. Helen also expressed the challenges they face while striving to serve. She expressed that they find it hard to penetrate the Ugandan local market because people consider them a refugee-focused medical center, which has somehow sabotaged their success.

Thus requesting collaboration in all KCCA community campaigns and programs: if possible, East Africa Medical Center can be the official medical care service partner for all their community-focused programs.

“As a refugee-founded medical center, we find it challenging to penetrate the local market because people have a negative perception of us. They consider us to be a refugee-focused medical center. Yes, that is how we started, but we have now transformed. That is why we are now envisioning transforming more into an international hospital. We need your help on this because it will help us all serve better,” – Mrs. Helen expressed.

Mr. Abiselom Bahta could not express his gratitude towards more. He thus pledged on behalf of East Africa Medical Center to work closely with KCCA for a common goal.

At East Africa Medical Center, we know that while it’s key to have a good product or service, developing strong relationships with clients, partners, and suppliers is crucial for long-term success.
